Juan DiazB understands creation as a possibility to build worlds. Film, design, illustration and photography have been some of the different languages he has used to create and develop his imaginary.
Is the production designer and co-writer of “RojoRed” , a mix media short film that was in more than 70 festivals around the world and won more that 20 awards, including Best Shortfilm in Fantasporto, NY Latino Film festival, Cartagena International film festival and Visual Innovation in Fantastic Fest in Austin. Other projects include the shortfilms “Ext.Amanecer.Ribera” that he wrote and directed in 2004 and “Moving in” in 2003.
As part of the 5D Conference an event directed by Alex McDowell and Chris Scoates, was invited to the FMX in Stuttgart in 2008 and 2009, with the panels “Design in Flux” and “Creation: Authorship and Narrative”. Juan DiazB has also been part of different art shows as the “RED 52 Colombian Passion” In Hong Kong and the Fernando Botero award in which he won the special jury award for his photographic project “CATAPIXIA”.
Juan DiazB participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2007 and in 2010 directed the film “BY NIGHT” , selected to be part of the Berlin Today Award of the Berlinale 2010. BY NIGHT has been part of the official selection of festivals such as L.A Short Fest, Fantastic Fest, and Invitro Visual in which one the Best Production Design Award.
DiazB is one of the founders of Gatoencerrado films and at present they are working and developing various feature length projects.
